Thanks for visiting my page. 👋🏻
My name is Lauren. I am an undersupported, neurodivergent soul disillusioned with economic feudalism.
My life has been made up of many masks and hats. I have a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering (2019) and I’ve enjoyed HTML/CSS since I was 13.
Now, I’m into the 30-somethings; first-time, full-time mom as of 2024. During my maternity leave, my place of employment decreed a “widespread workforce reduction” while I was not available to advocate for myself.
I believe it to be the geopolitical climate rather than my resume to be the reason for my inability to secure new employment. (Thanks, Wall Street)
I try to take comfort in mantras like, “God has a plan,” and “what’s meant to be, will be,” but I’m way beyond the end of my savings.
This month, the lease on my one-bedroom apartment ends and we’re moving to Minnesota! David’s parents are excited to host us and spend time with their granddaughter.
I’ve been aggressively opposed to commercialism from the time of discovering ad-blockers. It’s not illegal to block ads, it just makes big corporate sad and cranky.
You won’t have to block ads here, but I may drop links to GoFundMe, PayPal.me, Venmo, CashApp, maybe a Patreon — not that I expect anything, but I have to let the universe know I’m open to receiving financial support (because while others are playing the stock market, I’ve been stalking markets that make (and are making) life living hell) — if you’ve got it to spare, I’m a different kind of RoI (return on investment).
I learned Photoshop and HTML/CSS as a hobby in 2006.
After graduating high school, I earned a couple certifications: Cisco CCENT (Networking) and CompTIA A+ (2012, 2013)
Recently, I’ve been using Raspberry Pi as a development environment for Docker containers, exploring open-source alternatives to the subscription services creators are spending too much of their revenue on…
At time of writing, everything but my Notion hosting is offline because I’m about to transition to MN; everything’s changing and I’m too cheap for a VPS (for now?).
Notion+Cloudflare workers keeps me live on the web with the convenience of editing on mobile with one hand and a toddler in my lap or jumping on me…
Freelance is probably my best option for paying bills and parenting. Once I’m settled, I’ll list my offerings, capabilities, and consultation services.
I have other ideas, too, but they’re gonna cost you >:) maybe not, it depends on the idea, actually. Needs more time and focus and stability.
